The Accelerator Center brought together founders, industry leaders, partners, and researchers on Wednesday May 13th, 2026 for the 2026 Aerospace Innovation Showcase. The showcase celebrated the growth of the second cohort of participants in their Aerospace Accelerator program, and positioned Waterloo as a top pick for startups in Aerospace.

A hub for innovation

Being in Waterloo region provides startups with access to resources for Aerospace innovation. Our close proximity to the Region of Waterloo International Airport gives companies the potential to experiment and innovate in a high impact, real world setting beyond the lab.

The Accelerator Center launched the Aerospace Accelerator program in 2024 with the support of their partners, AeroWR, Skywise, and the Region of Waterloo International Airport. This 6 month program to test, grow and scale technologies allowed the companies to thrive with the resources available right here in Waterloo.

A collaborative edge

Beyond Waterloo’s physical assets, the proximity of the Accelerator Center to the University of Waterloo makes it an ideal space for connecting with talent. The showcase featured innovative solutions from experts in the field alongside those new to the industry.

The collaborative environment and strong partnerships are part of what makes Waterloo a promising hub for innovation. After connecting with other innovators, and receiving mentorship from Aerospace Accelerator program, the showcase posed as an additional hub for networking based on the idea that everyone in the room had something to offer someone else, and someone else had something to offer them.

Solving real-world issues

Recent innovations have changed what is possible in the world of technology, from AI integration and advanced digital connectivity to green technology. In the Aerospace Accelerator program, these innovations become opportunities for real-world solutions to problems the industry faces.

Founders are tackling a wide range of issues, including finding environmentally sustainable fuel sources, creating accessible and efficient flight operations, and helping to optimize performance. The innovative use of local resources to solve these issues allows tech developments in the region to create solutions with a high impact.
