To support new and growing businesses in Waterloo Region, Minister of State Gary Goodyear, MPs Harold Albrecht, Stephen Woodworth and Peter Braid have announced that up to $2.03 million will be invested in helping innovative businesses in the Region grow.
The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev) is offering up to $1.53 million for three companies to develop and commercialize products such as unmanned vehicles (Clearpath Robotics), digital display advertising (WestonExpressions), and social media content analysis (In The Chat). Additionally, these companies have already received over $3.1 million in funding from venture capitalists and angel investors. FedDev Ontario will also give up to $500,000 for the Golden Triangle Angel Network to support southern Ontario’s growing angel investor community.
Thanks to the contributions from the Canadian government, business investments and innovation initiatives can grow. This in turn increases southern Ontario’s innovation ecosystem through entrepreneurship support.
