Top Hat to Acquire Nelson’s Domestic Higher-Ed Textbook Business

Education software startup and Accelerator Centre Graduate, Top Hat announced that it is acquiring over 400 of Nelson’s Canadian higher education textbook titles. With plans to modernize the titles on its active learning platform, the move marks a digital transformation of Canada’s higher ed publishing landscape. As Nelson prepares to exit the post-secondary market to focus solely on K-12, Top Hat has positioned itself to become the next leading player in the industry.

The catalogue of titles includes many popular and trusted textbooks used in Canadian higher ed institutions, covering disciplines including human resources, social sciences, criminal justice, and education, among many others. By integrating the titles into Top Hat’s powerful active learning platform, the company hopes to provide a solution to Canadian institutions as they confront the challenge of redesigning courses for digital delivery.
