Ready to launch

A new partnership between Waterloo’s Accelerator Centre and Wilfrid Laurier University’s LaunchPad program hopes to give students with an entrepreneurial bent the support to start their own business.

The partnership will give the Laurier LaunchPad physical access to the Accelerator Program, including use of the office it operates out of the centre located at the David Johnston Research and Technology Park. More importantly, it will give Laurier students and alumni access to the expertise housed in the centre that has helped launch more than 100 local start-up companies.

It is such a vibrant and attractive place to create enterprise,” said Farlow, about the importance of the move. “It’s a really good fit and by having Laurier students in that environment there is a potential for more collisions as people bump into each other and teams are formed and ideas are developed in that kind of an environment.”

Steve Farlow, executive director of the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship
