The David Johnston Research and Technology Park receives the Excellence in Economic Development Award

David Johnston Research and Technology Park, located at the University of Waterloo’s north campus, is one of Canada’s largest research parks designed to house thousands of researchers. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, it received an Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Counsel (IEDC) during the IEDC Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The award recognizes the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials as well as the year’s most influential leaders. It also honours organizations that are at the forefront of creating positive change in the economic development profession and are role models for innovative and effective practices.

According to Dennis Coleman, IEDC chair, the David Johnston Research and Technology Park was awarded “for providing successful strategies to promote new standards in economic development in this period of global recovery.” The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is an organization serving more than 4,500 members and is dedicated to helping economic development professionals create high-quality jobs, vibrant communities as well as better quality of life in their regions.
